The Kona side of Hawaiʻi Island has a compact but busy racquet scene. One large private facility in Keauhou — the center long known as Holua — sits a short walk from the OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa, while the County of Hawaiʻi provides public courts at Kailua Park (the Old Kona Airport park) and Harold H. Higashihara Park. This independent guide collects published facts about each, with links so you can check current hours and fees.

What was the Holua Tennis and Pickleball Center?
This domain once belonged to the Holua Tennis and Pickleball Center in Keauhou. The facility at 78-7190 Kaleiopapa Street now operates as Holua Racquet & Paddle, which describes itself as the largest tennis and pickleball facility in Hawaiʻi. Court directories such as Bounce still list it under the older center name. The Holua center page summarizes what published sources say about the courts, programs and events — and the name itself comes from the historic Keauhou hōlua slide, which ends at the same street.
This site is not the Holua center and cannot book courts, lessons or memberships. Contact the facility directly for those.
Visiting players: the short version
- Want a sure game today? Holua's open-play sessions take drop-ins for a fee (about $10 a session in a 2025 Hawaii.com guide).
- Want free play? Kailua Park's six first-come, first-served pickleball courts are the only county courts on the island that don't need a reservation. Bring a net if none is up — the county asks players to supply their own.
- Tennis? Kailua Park and Higashihara Park both list outdoor tennis courts; Holua has the island's largest tennis set-up.
Details, rules and reservation notes are on the public courts page.
